Dosing Instructions
Why am I now injecting less/more units than I was with my last order, even at the same dose?
Different pharmacies may dispense vials of medications in a different concentration than what you have had before. This may mean that the number of units that you need to draw up for your dose will change.
Remember: A vial of medication with a higher concentration means more of the drug in each milliliter of liquid and a vial of medication with a lower concentration means less of the drug in each milliliter of fluid
- With a higher concentration, a patient might need less liquid and less units to get the same dose of the active drug.
- With a lower concentration, they would need more liquid and more units to get that same dose of the active drug.
So, even if the medication name or even the dose in milligrams is the same, pay close attention to the number of units that you need to draw up and inject, as it is based on the concentration of medication in your vial.
What is the difference between MG, ML, Units, dose and concentration?
mg (milligrams): Milligrams are a way to measure the amount of the active ingredient in the medication. Think of it as the strength of the medicine itself. For example, if a tablet says 500 mg, it means there are 500 milligrams of the active drug in that tablet.
ml (milliliters): Milliliters are a way to measure the volume of liquid in a given container. For example, a water bottle may hold 500 mL of water or a vial of medication may hold 1 mL of liquid medication.
Units: Some syringes like those that are used for administering medication in fluid form, like insulin or GLP1 medications, use units as a way of measuring the amount of medication that is required for a certain dose.
mg = amount of the drug
ml = amount of liquid
units = special measure of how much medication administered for a given dose and is often seen on syringes
What is concentration and how does it affect my dose?
Concentration: Many medications that are packaged in vials show a concentration on the label. Concentration is the number of milligrams of medication in milliliters of fluid. It may say something like 1 mg/mL, 2.5 mg/mL or even 20 mg/mL. Medications that have a higher number of milligrams in a milliliter have a higher concentration.
Dose: A dose of medication is the number of mg that you have been prescribed to take of that medication.
Your prescription will tell you your dose of medication in milligrams and the number of units that you should draw up on a syringe to equal that dose of medication. The number of units that you will need to draw up for your dose will depend on the concentration of the medication in your vial.
- If your vial of medication has a higher concentration of medication, you will draw up a fewer number of units than a patient that is on the same dose of medication but has a vial with a lower concentration of medication.
- In other words, a liquid medication that has a higher concentration will require a lower number of units to achieve a certain dose
Shipping
Are medication orders shipped all at once or in multiple increments?
The first 3 months medications will be shipped at once. Subsequent month medications will be shipped per patient orders and weight loss journey.
This helps ensure that everything is going well with the medication and allows for a review of the dosing. It also ensures that the medication remains unexpired.
The follow-up can be conducted either through a video visit or by completing an online questionnaire. Once this is completed and you’re ready to refill, the checkout will indicate that your plan covers the next two months.
What is the shipping timeframe for my order?
After an invoice is paid, it typically takes up to 10-14 days for the pharmacy to process, fill, and ship your order, although this timeframe can sometimes be shorter.
It is crucial to remember that our pharmacies do not operate during weekends or holidays, and this can account for any delays in processing for orders placed during this time.
You will receive shipment notifications promptly once your order is shipped from the pharmacy.
What carriers are used to ship medication orders?
The pharmacies that HHC partners with will ship your medication directly to your door once the prescription has been processed and filled. Our multiple pharmacy partners ship via UPS or FedEx, and you will receive the tracking notification and details for your order once the shipping process has begun.
We do caution patients against shipping to a PO Box or pickup location, as tracking is not available in the same manner. Additionally, some personalized wellness programs may have temperature requirements that may not be provided in those environments. HHC and our pharmacy partners take the utmost care to ensure viability by shipping with carriers who can guarantee to-your-door delivery.
Progress
What diet and exercise routine are recommended while on a personalized wellness program?
Diet Recommendations:
- Protein: Aim for 50% of your body weight in grams of protein each day. For example, if you weigh 150 lbs, your goal would be 75 grams of protein daily. Protein is essential for muscle repair, immune function, and overall body repair.
- Fiber: To support digestion and overall health, aim for 25 grams of fiber per day for females and 35 grams for males. Fiber helps regulate blood sugar levels, aids digestion, and keeps you feeling full longer.
- Healthy Balance: Incorporate a variety of protein-rich foods like lean meats, legumes, eggs, tofu, and dairy. For fiber, focus on whole grains, fruits, vegetables, nuts, and seeds.
Exercise Recommendations:
- Consistency: Aim to get moving for at least 30 minutes a day for 3 days a week. This can be spread out throughout the week—whether it’s brisk walking, cycling, swimming, or any other form of cardio or strength training.
- Mix It Up: Consider mixing cardio (like walking, jogging, or cycling) with strength training exercises (such as bodyweight exercises or weightlifting). This helps build muscle, improve endurance, and keep things interesting.
Overall Tips:
- Hydrate: Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is essential for digestion, energy, and overall well-being.
- Sleep: Aim for 7–9 hours of sleep each night to support recovery and mental clarity.
What if I experience a stall in my progress?
Over time, as your body adjusts to certain personalized wellness programs, modifications can be necessary. Some patients can see progress over many months with the dose they’ve been prescribed, and others require an increase in their dose to feel the full effects.
The next best step would be to schedule an appointment with a provider to discuss options and suggestions on a clinical basis.
